Nepal Earthquake Appeal
Misery Guts, The Body Shop NZ and the Himalayan Trust are proud to present the Nepal Club Flag – ‘AIN’T NO MOUNTAIN HIGH ENOUGH’. Raising funds for families and communities affected by the devastating Nepal earthquakes.
Both The Body Shop and Misery Guts source Fair Trade Group Nepal made products, so together, we
thought it only appropriate to come together on an initiative which would help those affected by the quakes; and what better charity partner than the Himalayan Trust, founded by a New Zealand legend, the late great
Sir Edmund Hillary.
Although there’s now little to no coverage through mainstream media, millions of people continue to struggle as they attempt to rebuild their lives, homes and communities.
The Himalayan Trust reports; More than 8,800 people were killed and more than 19,000 injured following an earthquake and series of aftershocks in April and May this year. The UN estimates that 8 million people across the country were affected by the disaster – more than a quarter of the population. Two million people lost their houses after the quakes completely destroyed more than 600,000 homes and damaged a further 288,000 across the country’s 39 affected districts (out of 75). The people of Nepal are in dire need.
